In 2009, A & B Insurance Group founder Richard Bourgault was honored to receive LIFE's realLIFEstories Client Sevrvice Award for his work with the Ogonowski family, victims of the September 11 tragedy in New York:
" John Ogonowski had always loved life on the farm and even with a demanding career as a pilot for American Airlines, he decided to take on a second career as a hay farmer. He purchased life insurance to ensure his family was financially protected and would be able to remain on the farm should something happen to him. On September 11, 2001, John’s family realized their worst fears as they learned his flight had been hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center. Richard Bourgault, the family’s insurance agent, was able to reassure them that the proceeds from John’s life insurance would ensure they would remain in their home. John’s wife, Peg, used the money to pay off the mortgage and farm debt, and set aside money for her daughters’ college tuition. The family farm John loved so much is still in business today."
